Installing Mnova NMR

The School’s of Chemistry and Pharmacy have purchased a site-license for the Mnvoa NMR software, which can now be used by staff and students in both Schools, and by collaborators in other Schools/Faculties.

The software can be installed and used on any PC which you have Admin rights for, but the software license can only be activated (and then reactivated every 90 days) when connected to the University network (either by being on-campus or using the VPN).

Instructions to download and install the software, along with license files, can be found here

Installing TopSpin

Bruker provides free access to TopSpin for students and researchers at the University. To find out how to download and install TopSpin on your Windows, Mac or Linux PC please click here

Accessing your data

All data generated by the instrument should automatically be transfered onto the University's Research filestore (more commonly known as the R: drive) once the experiment has finished running. If you cannot find your data after your experiment has completed, or you do not have access to the CBS400MHzNMR folder please contact the System Administrator (contact details are available via the "Support" link above).

Access to the storage space on the R: drive should be created automatically when access to the instrument is granted. You will only have read-only access to this area. To process your data you will need to copy your data to another location. Please ensure you copy your data to a secure, backed-up location that satisfies the Research Data Management plan and policies imposed on the projects you are working on to minimise the risk of future data loss.

There are different methods available to access your data depending upon your location and type of computer you are using;

University Windows PC located on-campus

Login as usual and use the file explorer to navigate to the CBS400MHzNMR folder in the R: drive.

Windows PC not attached to the University Active Directory located on-campus

You can map a network drive to the remote folder \\ad.nottingham.ac.uk\data\research and enter your usual Univesity username and password ensuring the domain is set to AD.

Linux and Apple Mac machines located on-campus

Connect to smb://ad.nottingham.ac.uk/data/research and enter your usual Univesity username and password ensuring the domain is set to AD.

Mobile devices and all off-campus access

Via the web at files.nottingham.ac.uk.
